WELCOME TO THE GRIM BEYOND
GRIM the Card Game is a two-player strategy game in which players pair two of eleven elemental Grim Decks together to develop a strategy and unique playstyle. Players will command Grim, creatures inspired by real world folklore, to launch deadly elemental attacks in hopes of defeating their opponent’s Grim. Enough knockouts will win you the game. But be warned, as The Fiend will attempt to balance your battle at each turn. With 55 unique combinations and over 200,000 pre-game states to explore, GRIM the Card Game is a seemingly endless wellspring of theory-crafting, strategy, and fun.
BANISHED is a two-player deck builder with war-style combat mechanics heavily inspired by tarot that is still in development at Grimoire Games. Banished is a separate game from GRIM that tells the story of the Fiend, a tyrannical ruler, and his rise to power. In Banished, you are the commander of a legion of Grim empowered by Spirits. Through a series of battles with an opposing commander, you will summon new and interesting Grim to your ranks to develop an army. Conjure Cups and Swords for your Grim to wield in battle, Wands to sway your fortunes, and Curses to disrupt your enemy in this fast-paced and spirited card game.
GAME DESIGN
GRIM the Card Game is an Expandable Card Game, meaning you will receive every pre-expansion card in the game with a single purchase. The box has been designed to fit all cards within it sleeved or unsleeved, plus three expansions also sleeved. The game is made entirely by a solo developer attorney in Chicago, the owner of Grimoire Games, Michael Paluzzi. Michael has been a graphic designer, artist, and game nerd for many years. Using decades of experience in digital painting and graphic arts, Michael crafted each card with a combination of art nouveau painting in Procreate, Photoshop and Illustrator editing, and stable diffusion to achieve the weird and confounding features characteristic of GRIM the Card Game.
Banished is also designed by Michael Paluzzi but with art from the amazing Rayven Studios. Michael writes each card independently to ensure that they are balanced as well as possible, and has prided himself on using his legal experience to keep terms, descriptions, and rules consistent. He hopes that you enjoy the same sense of wonder that he feels in each of the Grim Cards and their art nouveau, fairy tale style.
